About a month after Traditions at the Glen announced they would be placing a bid for a casino at their location on Watson Boulevard in Johnson City, the resort unveiled its plans and goals for the possible casino to the community. On Friday, dozens of people browsed through posters explaining what the Traditions Resort and Casino would look like, as well as its impact on the community. Traditions is among a group of bidders, including Tioga Downs in Nichols, that is vying for the Southern Tier’s casino license. Traditions says that a casino at their location would add over 1,500 jobs to the area, not including about 900 construction jobs that would be required to build the concert venue and large hotel. Some residents have voiced concerns over how a casino in Johnson City would impact traffic patterns, while others are excited about the tax revenue a casino would generate. Traditions officials say they plan on placing their bid for a license sometime in the first half of next year.
