Police in Broome County were able to catch a man wanted in North Carolina on a felony assault charge. 32-year-old Steven Mincey of Apalachin was pulled over on Saturday for an equipment violation when police discovered that not only was he unlicensed, he was wanted in North Carolina for felony assault with inflicting serious bodily injury, a probation violation. Mincey had originally been charged with attempted murder involving a stabbing in the incident. Troopers say he left North Carolina and moved to New York, and is now being charged as a fugitive from justice, a felony, along with two vehicle-related violations. He was arraigned in the Town of Union Court and sent to the Broome County Jail where he will await extradition proceedings.
