The Johnson City Water Department has repaired a water main break that happened Sunday morning. The affected streets were re-opened Sunday night. If you have discolored water, the Johnson City Mayor’s Office recommends running the water for a few minutes. The office said the Broome County Health Department stated the water should be safe to drink and there’s no need to boil it. Johnson City Mayor Greg Deemie said water pressure was back up around the village Sunday afternoon. The 12-inch water main break happened at the intersection of Brocton Avenue, North Broad Street, and the Arch Street Bridge around 11 a.m. Sunday morning. Water was running down North Broad Street, also causing an ice condition.
