The latest reports from Binghamton University show that charitable donations to the school rose 73 percent to $13.6 million in the academic year that ended in June. Voluntary gifts to colleges and universities across the country saw an increase of 9 percent. BU’s overall donations were given a boost from a $5.9 million gift of research manufacturing tools from the FlexTech Alliance. Cash donations for the school also rose by 16 percent. The largest amount of donations for any school in the SUNY system was Stony Brook University, which saw donations of $97.9 million for the last academic year.
