A U.S. Army Major with ties to Upstate New York was among the 16 people injured in Wednesday’s shooting at Fort Hood in Texas. Four people are dead in the incident, including the shooter. Two-time combat veteran Patrick Miller was injured during the shooting, and underwent surgery Wednesday night. His current condition is unknown. Miller attended St. Bonaventure University with a major in physical education and science before graduating in 2003. He was in the ROTC while in college, and joined the Army upon graduation. He reportedly also attended Syracuse University, graduating in 2009 with his MBA. The shooter in the incident died of what authorities believe to be a self-inflicted wound.
