The Bradford County commissioners have voted to commit $10,000 for the Diahoga Trail Project in both the Athens and Sayre boroughs. The money represents funding to get the project started, which will create a trail that runs along the Susquehanna River. The money comes from the revenue from the Act 13 impact fee that is kept by the state and is used for parks and recreation projects, and the money has now been allocated to Bradford County. Construction of the trail project is expected to cost about $280,000 in all. The county will be hoping to receive more funding from the Department of Conservation & Natural Resources. A similar trail that runs along the Susquehanna River already exists in the Towanda area.
