A Fort Drum solider reported missing was arrested over the weekend after he was found stealing from cars in the Johnson City area. New York State Police began asking for the public’s help in locating 22-year-old Gilbert Lee on Friday, saying he had been missing since Thursday and that his vehicle was found abandoned on Interstate 81 South in the Town of Barker around 10:30 Thursday night. From there, State Police initiated a foot and air search. At the time of the search, troopers believed that Lee was carrying a rifle but did not believe anyone was in any immediate danger. By Friday night, Johnson City Police had found Lee and charged him with disorderly conduct and resisting arrest. He allegedly was attempting to steal from cars, but he also appeared to be disturbed and was yelling out Bible phrases while knocking on doors. Lee was taken to the Broome County jail.
