The Athens Township Police Department is teaming with the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation and the National Highway Traffic Administration to enforce a Border to Border seatbelt enforcement operation now through June 8th. 370 law enforcement agencies across the state of Pennsylvania will be stepping up efforts to ticket drivers and passengers riding without a seatbelt. The operation last year saw 970 citations for seatbelt and child safety seat violations in Pennsylvania. State and municipal police will be conducting Traffic Enforcement Zones throughout the state, with safety checkpoints and roving patrols set to target night time drivers in Bradford County until 10 o’clock at night.
