The Binghamton man found guilty following a murder on the city’s south side back in 2012 has been sentenced to 25 years to life in state prison. 22-year-old Isaiah Criss will be serving the maximum sentence for the charge of second-degree murder. Criss is said to have fatally shot 27-year-old Jeremiah Reynolds at the Rock-B Tavern in Binghamton. Reynolds was killed by a single gunshot to the chest, a shot that the prosecution says was retaliation for a fight in which Reynolds beat up a friend of Criss’ the week before. After Criss spotted Reynolds at the bar on the night of the shooting, he retrieved a gun from a vehicle and shot Reynolds. Reynolds was found lying in the street outside the bar by police and was taken to UHS Wilson Hospital in Johnson City where he died during treatment. Criss was first charged with murder when he was indicted by a grand jury in January of 2013, and on March 5th of this year he was found guilty of second-degree murder and second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, both felonies. His sentence for the murder charge runs concurrently with the 15 year sentence for the weapon charge.
