The Community Alliance Church of Monroeton will be creating affordable housing in Towanda using $760,000 in Pennsylvania state funding. The project will renovate the church-owned three-story building at 421 Main Street in Towanda. Final plans for the project have not been finalized, but four to five apartments are expected to be built. Those apartments will then be rented by the church to lower income elderly or handicapped people. The state funding comes in the form of a grant that comes from revenue created by the Act 13 impact fee on gas drilling.
