SUNY Broome has announced that students can now officially get a degree in casino management. The New York State Education Department officially granted the Associate in Applied Science degree program for casino management on Tuesday at SUNY Broome. The degree requires 63 credits and has two internships, a bartending and beverage management class, and a casino games course. A separate 15-credit casino management certificate includes classes on gaming surveillance and security. The school built a $300,000 mock casino named “Casino Vespa” with a blackjack table, craps table, roulette, and a full-service bar. The new classroom is in the basement of the school’s Science Building. The school looked to begin offering the program as Tioga Downs in Nichols and Traditions at the Glen in the Town of Union are bidding for a full-casino license nearby.
