In a written statement, Broome County Executive Debbie Preston says she is looking to return to work on June 30th. She has been battling lung cancer since April, but has stayed up to date on county business through Skype. She will start working half-days on the 30th, and slowly work her way up to full days. As a precautionary measure, she will be undergoing chemotherapy treatments for the next four months.
