Some residents in the Town of Union are looking to band together to move forward with a lawsuit against National Pipe & Plastics. Over the past several months a number of complaints have been filed by people who live near the plant, citing issues related to noise, smell, and the increase in traffic. Local attorney Ronald Benjamin held a meeting at the George F. Johnson Library last night looking to gather the community in an effort to raise funds to support a lawsuit against the company. Benjamin plans to declare National Pipe & Plastics a public nuisance to the community. An estimated $40,000 would need to be raised by the community in order to get the lawsuit in motion and into the courts. So far, only about $1,500 has been raised for the cause.
