The Town of Union has announced plans to build a public ice rink. The exact location of the rink has yet to be determined but it will be built in a public park. A group named The Skating Community for Opportunities in Recreation and Enrichment, or SCORE, brought the idea to the town. The group’s mission is to bring hockey back to western Broome County. One possible location being considered is Glendale Park, and depending on where the rink is built, it could cost anywhere between $25,000 and $50,000. The town will be looking at private donations as well as grant money to cover the cost.
