More information has been released regarding the woman seriously injured in a fire in Waverly on Sunday. Jamie Miccio, of Gillett, Pennsylvania, an employee at the newly opened Sisters Family Restaurant in Waverly, opened up the restaurant and turned on the grill to pre-heat it around 5:30 Sunday morning. That’s when reports say an aerosol can near the grill exploded, sparking a blaze. Miccio was found outside the restaurant with first-degree burns to her face and second-degree burns to her arms, legs, and stomach. She was treated at the scene before being transported by Greater Valley EMS to Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre. From there, she was later transferred to the Lehigh Valley Burn Center. The Barton Fire Department responded to the call and the Tioga County Fire Investigation Team ruled the cause of the fire to be accidental. In addition to being an employee at the restaurant, Miccio is also close friends with the owners and helped prepare the restaurant for its official opening last Wednesday. A grand opening is expected to be held in the future after Miccio is out of the hospital.
