As the murder trial of Aaron Powell continues in Broome County Court, on Thursday it was Powell’s sister and a close friend testifying for the prosecution. Powell’s sister, Amantha Powell, described the night of the deaths of Christina Powell and Mario Masciarelli, stating that Aaron Powell left his home and asked his sister if she could watch his young son. It wasn’t until 2:30 the next morning that she was able to contact Aaron. She also said it’s not unusual for them to watch each other’s children. Aaron’s longtime friend, Michael Esworthy, also testified. Esworthy told prosecutors that Aaron Powell had asked him questions on how to find Christina and how he could track her phone. Powell is currently facing two counts of second degree murder and one count of first degree murder.
