The new assistant Dean of Off Campus Programs and Services at Binghamton University, Milton Chester is seeking ways to improve the safety of students who live off campus. Chester attended a Binghamton City Council Meeting on Monday to discuss the ways in which he suggests would improve student safety. One such idea mentioned is to create a text-alert system for students. Chester asked council members to think of other ways to improve student safety. One Idea mentioned was to create a neighborhood watch. Chester is working closely with Binghamton Police Chief Joseph T. Zikuski in the process.
