In Tioga County NY, lawmakers have changed one of the county’s ethics laws to comply with state law. Before the Tioga County legislature meeting last week, the public could not obtain copies of county officials’ financial disclosure forms. The forms are a six page document that detail a county official’s investments, real estate, and outside income. Prior to the law change, the public could not photocopy, or retype the information found on the documents. A media story months ago revealed that such a policy was against state law, and the change was set in motion.
