BREAKING NEWS: Richford Evacuation Rescinded

***THE REQUEST FOR RICHFORD RESIDENTS TO EVACUATE HAS BEEN CANCELLED***

BREAKING NEWS IN RICHFORD, NY: According to authorities, there was a concern that the dike at Emerald Pond on West Hill Road in Richford was suspect to give way, HOWEVER, quick action taken by the Richford Fire Department and Tioga County Emergency Management has MITIGATED the problem. The Tioga County Sheriffs Office prepared a reverse 911 message just in case evacuations were necessary, and it was sent accidentally. There is NO NEED to evacuate per Tioga County Emergency Mangement & Tioga County Sheriffs Office. The Richford Fire Department is and will continue to monitor the situation throughout the night as a precaution only. There is no danger.  Tioga County officials have deemed the situation to be safe. Emergency managers say the area would need 50 more inches of water for there to be a problem, and they say that won’t happen any time soon.  We’ll have the latest information on the WEBO Morning Show Friday morning, and bulletins at once.
