A fire in the town of Union Sunday night has crews investigating its cause. The Endwell Fire Department was called to 500 Shady Dr. around 5:30 for a possible chimney fire. Upon arrival, the crew requested a second alarm because of heavy smoke and Vestal, West Corners and Union Center fire departments all arrived shortly after. The fire was burning in the first floor inside the chimney, and began to extend into the second floor bedroom. Crews were able to get the fire out in about 20 minutes, but all the ceilings and walls around it were pulled down to suffocate it. The cause of the fire is unknown at this time. The residents were home at the time and were active in suppressing the fire. No injuries were reported.
