A grease fire in Waverly on New Year’s day has displaced four residents. According to reports the Waverly Fire Department was dispatched to 369 Broad Street for a fire which started around 11:30AM. Fire crews were on scene battling the blaze for hours, and through their efforts, the fire was contained to one building. One tenant was taken to the hospital for minor burns on his arms, chest, and face. Though much was lost in the blaze, fire fighters were able to save two cats from the burning building. Sayre, Athens, and Waverly fire departments were all on scene.
