A meth lab was found at an apartment fire in Susquehanna County. The fire started Friday night on Main St. in Great Bend. The fire began in a bedroom toward the front of the house. The tenant told authorities the fire was ignited by a candle, but police said no evidence was found of that during the investigation. Detectives found a meth-type lab still on fire on the roof of the second floor. During the fire, the tenant took the items that were burning in the bedroom — curtains, a fan and some bedding — and threw them out of the window, which then caught the attic and front porch on fire. The fire was out within a matter of minutes, but firefighters were on the scene until 4 a.m. The tenant suffered minor burns and was taken to a nearby hospital. Several firefighters and other personnel were also taken to the hospital for observation. Residents in the building had to be evacuated for the night. Police said there will be felony charges resulting from this incident, and the fire is under investigation by the Susquehanna County District Attorney’s Office.
