Syracuse University imposed a one-year postseason ban on its men’s basketball team yesterday. The ban will keep the Orange from competing in the NCAA or NIT and the ACC tournaments this season. The self-imposed sanctions come as the school awaits the findings from the NCAA committee on infractions, which has been investigating the SU athletic department. According to the release from the school, this punishment will be accompanied by other self-imposed penalties that will be released when the NCAA publishes its report. According to Syracuse, no current student-athletes are involved in the cases being investigated by the NCAA. The school said the conduct involved in the case occurred years ago and none of it happened after 2012. The University said the case was initiated when Syracuse self-reported potential violations to the NCAA in 2007.
