After being stripped of his UFC light heavyweight title on Tuesday night, Jon Jones lost a major sponsorship deal yesterday. Reebok terminated its endorsement deal with Jones, effective immediately. It’s the first time since 2011 that Jones does not own the title. The UFC also suspended the Union-Endicott grad indefinitely. The title was taken away from him by the UFC late Tuesday night as Jones faces felony charges for leaving the scene of an accident in New Mexico, which left a pregnant woman with a broken arm. Jones has been replaced by Daniel Cormier for UFC 187 next month in Las Vegas. Cormier is the fighter Jones just beat to keep his light heavyweight title. Cormier released this statement on instagram on Wednesday where he addressed Jon’s situation: “Hard feeling or not, I wish Jon Jones the best of luck and hope he gets the help that he needs,” Cormier wrote. “He’s a great warrior and champion. And good luck to his parents, wife and kids.” After appearing in court on Tuesday, there are no other court dates planned at the moment for Jones. The district attorney has 60 days to decide whether to bring his case to a grand jury. If convicted of the crime, Jones could face up to three years in jail. Jones released his own statement on Tuesday night on his Twitter account, “Got a lot of soul searching to do. Sorry to everyone I’ve let down.”
