Authorities announced the search for Richard Matt and David Sweat would be expanding. Since June 6th, state, local and federal law enforcement agencies have focused on a sixteen mile perimeter around the Clinton Correctional Facility in Dannemora. Authorities held a news conference outside of the Clinton County Government Center in Plattsburgh yesterday. The search will be shifting to a larger area, based on information gathered during the investigation. With a change in the search area, comes a decline in the number of people investigating. State Police said there are currently 600 law enforcement officers searching for the inmates, as opposed to 800 just days ago. State Police said more than 1,300 leads have been or are being looked into. Also yesterday, authorities released age progression photos of what the inmates may look like after several days.
