As the Tioga Downs casino license proposal moves further along in the state gaming commission’s evaluation process, Tioga Downs is receiving more and more support from local residents, businesses, and organizations. Most recently, the Greater Binghamton Chamber of Commerce released a statement stating, quote “ The Chamber feels that a full license being awarded to Tioga Downs would have an immediate impact on the Southern Tier. While a casino would not fix all the economic woes in the region, it would certainly add jobs, increase revenue, and provide our region with much needed tax benefits.” A public hearing to discuss the potential Tioga Downs Casino license has been scheduled for 10 o’clock on September 18th at SUNY Broome.
