The Sayre Area Education Association and Sayre Area Board of Education will be meeting tonight for the last time before the education association’s threatened strike on Tuesday. Teacher contract negotiations have been ongoing since contracts last expired in 2013. Prior to tonight’s meeting, the Sayre Area Board of Education has released the details of their latest proposed teacher contract. The contract calls for bonuses for teachers who worked between 2013, when the last contract expired, and now as a form of back payment. In addition, teachers would also receive salary increases of 2.75% for the next two upcoming school years. If an agreement is not reached tonight, representatives of the Sayre Area Education Association say that teachers will go on strike beginning on Tuesday.
