By a vote of 5-4, the Waverly School Board voted last night to keep the Chemung Elementary School open for at least the coming school year. The possibility of closing the school was tabled after the board was struggling to balance its budget for the 2016-2017 school year. Chemung Elementary houses classes for 5th grade students in the Waverly Central School District.
