In a written statement released late last week, the Athens Area Education Association has confirmed that teachers will be going on strike on April 18th if meaningful progress is not achieved prior to then. The next scheduled meeting between the Athens Area Board of Education and the Athens Area Education Association is scheduled for April 29th. Teachers in the Athens Area School District have been working without a contract since August 31st of 2013.
