Several nonprofit organizations in Tioga and Broome counties have received a share of recently announced grants from the Community Foundation for South Central New York.In all, the foundation awarded 181-thousand dollars to 29 organizations in its latest round of competitive grants. One of the largest grants went to the Rural Health Network of South Central New York, which includes Tioga and Broome almost 15-thousand dollars for a year-round healthy food access program. Tioga Opportunities got 85-hundred dollars for a commercial freezer to support their meals program. The foundation awarded 5-thousand dollars to The Church Commons in Tioga County for a community playground. Other grants included 5-thousand dollars to Tioga’s public health department for a child passenger safety seat program and 12-hundred to Waverly’s library to preserve historic snapshots. Fifty-eight organizations had submitted requests for $425,000 in funding.
