Fifth grade students in Waverly will take classes in the district’s middle school next year. This decision was the latest after the Waverly School board voted to close the Chemung Elementary School in an attempt to balance the district budget. While the closure of the Chemung Elementary school is expected to cut costs for the school district, a final budget still needs to be approved by voters. A public budget hearing will be held in the Waverly High School Library on June 9th at 6pm.
