A Towanda man has been sentenced to 15 to 30 years in prison following an October 2015 incident which left two Pennsylvania State Police Officers injured. 46-year-old Richard Vanderpool was sentenced yesterday in Bradford County Court, after pleading no contest to multiple felony counts of aggravated assault, theft, criminal trespassing, reckless endangerment, criminal mischief, and driving under the influence of alcohol. The charges all stem from the incident, where Vanderpool is said to have stolen a vehicle at a Towanda gas station, before driving to a Franklin Township residence where he began waving a gun in the air. When state troopers arrived, Vanderpool is said to have driven the stolen car into a nearby parked car, pinning one officer, and injuring another. Vanderpool will serve his sentence in a Pennsylvania State correctional facility.
