The Sayre Area School District and surrounding community is mourning the loss of a longtime coach. 78-year-old Ralph Hendershot passed away on Friday. He was an English teacher in the Sayre Area School District from 1960 until 1998. Hendershot coached Sayre’s varsity baseball team for over 30 years, as well as the district’s JV basketball team for more than 20. A viewing ceremony is being held tonight from 4-8pm at Alteri-Bowen Funeral Home on Desmond Street in Sayre. Funeral services will be held at 9:30 tomorrow morning at the Church of the Epiphany on South Elmer Avenue.
