New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo will continue his statewide tour to announce his plans for 2017 today in New York City and Buffalo. Today’s proposals include a plan to modernize the state’s voting procedures to remove barriers to registration and make casting a ballot easier for New Yorkers. The proposal includes early voting, automatic registration and same-day voter registration. Instead of just one address, the governor has decided to announce his 2017 policy proposals and initiatives across the state this week. Other proposals include allowing ride-sharing services like Uber and Lyft to operate in Upstate New York, adding charging stations near state highways to promote electric vehicle use, and setting up safeguards to help protect senior citizens from financial exploitation.
