Tioga and Broome hold regional event to talk about heroin crisis

Tioga County Legislative Chair Martha Sauerbrey and Broome County Executive Jason Garnar co-hosted a regional event yesterday to discuss the ongoing heroin and opioid epidemic. They were joined at Binghamton University by Erie County Executive Mark Poloncarz. He serves as the state representative on the National Task Force on Heroin and Opioid Abuse. Poloncarz shared the findings of their research as well as policy and partnership recommendations made by the task force. The Southern Tier event brought together dozens of county legislators, law enforcement, mental health, health care, and addiction prevention officials from Broome and Tioga counties
