The Rumble Ponies began their new era in Binghamton with a bang last night, plating seven runs in the first four innings to defeat the Erie Seawolves 7-5 in their home opener at the newly-renovated NYSEG Stadium. Before the game, Owner John Hughes cut the ribbon to welcome fans to “Rumbletown” along with Binghamton Mayor Rich David and State Senator Fred Akshar. The Rumble Ponies will be home all weekend, including tonight at 7:05 against Erie. Also yesterday, the team announced a season-long “Strike Out Hunger” partnership with Tioga State Bank that will benefit the Community Hunger Outreach Warehouse. Tioga State will donate $20 to CHOW each time a Binghamton pitcher strikes out a batter at home.
