The first-ever Industrial Hemp Summit was held at Cornell University yesterday. Farmers, researchers and industry leaders met with state officials to identify growth challenges and explore new opportunities through research. They came up with a plan to expand research into industrial uses of hemp, streamline the state’s regulatory requirements, and continue to meet to make sure the state becomes a leader in production. New York now has 10 research locations around the state that are growing hemp for industrial uses like clothing, construction materials, paper, biofuel, plastic composites, and health foods.
