NYSEG restored services to thousands of customers in Broome and Tioga counties last night. 15,000 customers were still without power yesterday afternoon, but that number has been reduced to 3,500 in Broome and 300 in Tioga this morning. NYSEG says their crews will continue working and hope to have services restored to all customers in the two counties by tonight. In the meantime, they have set up four locations to distribute bottled water and dry ice to those without power: Campville Fire Station #1 on Route 17C, Vestal Fire Station #4 on Vestal Parkway East, the Chenango Fire Department in Castle Creek, and the Windsor Fire Department on Academy Street. All locations will be handing out supplies until 8pm on a first-come, first-served basis. The utility says more than 1,000 people have been working on restoration efforts since Monday’s severe thunderstorms.
