The Greater Binghamton Airport is back open today after a month-long runway reconstruction project. Yesterday, Congresswoman Claudia Tenney announced that the airport will receive a $588,000 grant to pay for 12 sets of replacement protective equipment, 12 sets of self-contained breathing apparatus, and a new rescue and firefighting vehicle. Also yesterday, Senators Charles Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand announced a $63,000 grant for the Elmira-Corning Regional Airport. The grant will be used for infrastructure upgrades. Both grants are from the Federal Aviation Administration.
