Lieutenant Governor Kathy Hochul was in Elmira yesterday to unveil the list of nine projects that will receive funding after the city won the $10 million first prize in last year’s Downtown Revitalization Initiative. The planned projects include construction of a multi-function building on West Water Street, reopening the Lake Street Bridge as a pedestrian walkway, renovating Clemens Square, and improving the Riverfront Boardwalk. City leaders hope to break ground on the West Water Street building this fall. It will likely house apartments, restaurants, and retail space. The Village of Endicott is one of three finalists for this year’s revitalization initiative.
