There is one reported fatality in an airplane crash near the Bradford County Airport in Towanda. The crash occurred shortly after 11:00 AM Wednesday. The FAA reports that the plane was a Zodiac light sport aircraft and that it crashed into a wooded area 2 miles east of the airport with only the pilot on board. While they believe the know who the pilot is, they are waiting for further identification before releasing that information. Firefighters say the wreckage is strewn about a heavily wooded steep hillside that can only be traveled on foot. The Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board will determine the probable cause of the crash.
