An alleged drug dealer has been charged in connection with the death of a Broome County overdose victim. Nineteen year old, Richard Gaworecki, of Union, is charged with criminally negligent homicide and criminal sale of a controlled substance. Investigators say on July 20, he sold heroin to 26-year-old Nicholas McKiernan in Binghamton. McKiernan used the drugs and died from an overdose. The district attorney’s office says they have surveillance video of the transaction, witness statements and Gaworecki’s own admission. The DA says he hopes these charges send a message to other drug dealers.
