Elmira Police responded to the 600 block of Walnut Street around 1 PM on Tuesday. Neighbors found a female infant, alive, in a plastic bag in a garbage bag. She was transported to a local hospital for evaluation. Diligent police work has resulted in the arrest of 17-year-old Harriette Hoyt of Sayre. She is charged with 2nd Degree Attempted Murder. She was arraigned and sent to the Chemung County Jail where she is being held without bail. Additional details have not yet been released. Police continue to investigate.
