Broome County officials have announced a new program to help fight the opioid epidemic.County Executive Jason Garner joined other local leaders Thursday to outline the Peer Response team. Certified peer advocates with the Addiction center of Broome County will work with local law enforcement.They’ll link at-risk individuals to local treatment and support services. Officials say they hope the Peer Response team helps addicts know that the community cares about their well-being.If you or someone you know is suffering from addiction, you can contact the peer response team at (607) 723-7308 Ext. 132.
