The Elmira Police made arrests in two apparently unrelated burglaries on Sunday. 36-year-old Michael Russell of Elmira was arrested for taking several items from a garage on West Clinton Street. A few hours later 52-year-old Douglas Guyer of Elmira was arrested in a home on Moorehead Place. Guyer knew the resident of the home, but did not have permission to be there. Both suspects are in the Chemung County Jail with charges pending. The Elmira Police ask that anyone with information about the burglaries contact them at (607) 737-5626.
