A Johnson City family escaped an early morning house fire yesterday on Grand Avenue in the village. The house had major damage to the third floor and roof with water damage on the first and second floors. The family was alerted to the fire by smoke alarms and were able to escape before firefighters arrived. Several cats and an iguana were rescued by firefighters. The fire is being investigated, but does not appear to be suspicious.
