The New York State DOT has announced a large number of lane closures around the Prospect Mountain project for this coming week. Starting today through Thursday, the Exit 72 off-ramp will be closed for concrete retaining wall work. A signed detour will be in place. Starting today through Friday, the right lane of State Route 17 West will be closed between Exit 72 (Prospect Street) and Exit 71 (Airport Road) for retaining wall work along the Exit 72 interchange. From today through Friday, Interstate 81 South/Route 17 East will be reduced to one lane between Exit 4 (Binghamton) and Bigelow Street for roadway reconstruction. Also, from today through Friday, there will be flagging operations on Broad Avenue at the Interstate 81/State Route 17 overpass to assist trucks transporting steel bridge girders to the work area. Overhead bridge work will also be performed. Flaggers will control traffic while the bridge girders are delivered to the site. There will also be periodic, alternating lane closures on State Route 7 North between Robinson Street and Bevier Street for excavation and embankment work in the area of I-81 Exit 4 from today through Friday. Finally, from today through Friday, there will be periodic, alternating lane closures on State Route 7 South between Bevier Street and Frederick Street for work on the new I-81 South/Route 17 East bridge abutment. Work will be performed weather permitting.
