The United Way of Broome County gave away Halloween costumes this weekend.They teamed up with the Vestal Rotary Club to collect gently used Halloween costumes. The organization also received a $500 grant from the District Rotary to buy additional costumes to add to the collection. People from around the area came early to the event, lining up out the door to check out the variety on display. Families were also able to take a pumpkin home after they picked out their costumes.United Way says it received nearly 200 costumes and gave away almost 150 within a couple of hours on Saturday. Those running the event say they were happy to see the smiles on the children’s faces and the excitement for the upcoming holiday.
