State Police say the man who hit a State Trooper with a car earlier this month has been released from Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, Pennsylvania. James Giacalone is in police custody. He was admitted to the hospital for treatment of injuries he sustained during a police chase in the city of Binghamton. According to authorities, the man crashed into a utility pole and then drove into a state police trooper who was trying to arrest him.Police say the suspect was struck in the face by an officer’s bullet, at which point he fled in his car again. Giacalone was found on foot a short time later.The trooper was taken to Wilson Hospital for leg and facial injuries where he was treated and released. Giacalone has been returned to New York and arraigned on multiple charges including 2 counts of attempted first degree murder of a police officer. He is currently being held in the Broome County Jail with no bail set. State Police say his next court dates are pending.
