The New York State Police stopped a vehicle in Kirkwood that had been travelling at a high rate of speed. The subsequent investigation led to the discovery of a loaded handgun in the vehicle. Neither occupant possessed a valid handgun permit. 22-year-old Kody Kemp of Friendsville and 30-year-old Scott Maxey of Montrose were arrested and charged with felony Criminal Possession of a Weapon. Both were remanded to the Broome County Jail.
